Can you Mount the Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform Rack Further Forward or Backward on Your Crossbars

Question:

Hi, I have crossbars on my roof already, and want to add this universal rack: https://www.etrailer.com/Roof-Basket/Rhino-Rack/RR42115BF.html Can I slide the rack forward or backward on the vehicle, anywehere along the slats, or does it need to mount in a specific spot? Thank you!

The Rhino-Rack Universal Pioneer Platform Rack, part # RR42115BF, is designed to mount to your crossbars with the three included mounting pieces.

These pieces are meant to be attached to the rack and crossbars along the two outer slots. The rack can be moved forward or backward to find a good position so long as the mounting pieces will still be able to fit between those slots (i.e. they're not being interfered with by the middle or end bars). I've linked to a video installation of this rack along with installation instructions so you can see how this works.

You have plenty of options for how far forward or back you want to mount this rack. However, I do want to warn against pushing the rack so far forward or back that there's an obvious "lopsided" effect. That may be unsafe if you put more weight on that side than on the side that is secure above your crossbars.
