Parts Needed To Add 7-way Connector On 2009 Toyota Highlander W/ Tow Package
Question:
Hi, I am looking to install a 7-way wiring harness on my 2009 Toyota Highlander Sport, it does have the tow package, and I believe it has the wiring installed for a 4-way connector already although I havent actually look inside the vehicle yet. So I think will only need to run wiring for the reverse lights, brake controller, and 7-way power. I was wondering if the 37185 7-way harness will work on my vehicle?

You are correct that you will need to have a 4-way connector installed before you can install a 7-way connector on your 2009 Toyota Highlander.
Since your Highlander has the tow package I recommend the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package # HM11141825 which will plug into the factory connector found in your rear cargo area.
To install a 7-way connector I recommend the Universal 7-way Connecter Install Kit # ETBC7 over the Hopkins Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole # 37185 you were looking at. The reason for this is the # ETBC7 will include all of the wiring, connectors, and circuit breakers needed to complete this install where you would need to purchase it all separately if you used the # 37185. I included a video of the # ETBC7 being installed on a 2010 Toyota Highlander for you to take a look at.
If you do not already have a trailer brake controller I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 which is a top of the line trailer brake controller that is extremely reliable with great features like an easy to read LCD screen, and built in easy to understand diagnostics.
I included videos of all of the products mentioned being installed for you to take a look at.
