Does this unit also test the electric trailer brakes?

The Tekonsha trailer wiring tester # 8010 can test the brake output circuit. It will be able to tell you in general that there is a problem like a short, overload, open ground, but you may have to do further testing on the brake magnets themselves depending on the nature of the problem. For that, you will need a multimeter like # PT89ZR if needed. I have included a link to an FAQ on testing brake magnets for you. I have also linked the instructions for the tester.
