Recommended Tire Chains for a 2011 Dodge Dakota Crew Cab 4X2 With 245/70/16 Tires
Question:
My Dodge Dakota owners manual says I am only allowed to use class S chains on my 2011 Dodge Dakota Crew Cab 4x2 vehicle if it is equipped with 245/70R16. I purchased my truck from the dealer with the factory 265/65R17 installed so does that mean I cant use chains or cables? Please help I am confused and a first time chain buyer with no clue on what to do.

Your Dodge Dakota owners manual is the best place to confirm compatibility of any snow chains with your 2011 Dakota 4X2. I checked an online copy of the 2011 Dakota owners manual and it indicates that Class S tires chains only may be used and then only on rear tires of size 245/70/16. (Class S chains are specified for vehicles that have limited space in the wheel wells. This class of chains requires less clearance and so is the appropriate choice for most passenger vehicles.)
The linked page will show you all chain options for this rear tire size. I recommend the Thule Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # TH01594250 because they are easier to install and feature durable high-quality manganese nickel alloy steel construction.
I have included two FAQ articles about tire chains that you might still find useful.
