How to Determine the Bolt Pattern of a Trailer Wheel
Question:
What is the Bolt Circle Pattern for the wheels on a Dexter Axle P-18. I find it hard to measure since the 4.5 and the 4.75 is pretty close. I need to order two new rims and tires, but Im not sure if the bolt pattern is 4.5 or 4.75.

One method you can employ to help figure out the bolt pattern is as follows: Use the distance between the center of one bolt hole to the center of the bolt hole adjacent to it:
If the distance is:
2-5/8 inches - the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2
2-3/4 inches - the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4
There could be different hubs put on a given axle with different bolt patterns so measuring is going to be key. The more common size is 5 on 4-1/2. This pattern can be found on everything for8 inch to 15 inch wheels. A 5 on 4-3/4 is typically limited to a 15 inch wheel.
