In order for your existing single-speed trailer jack to work with the Bulldog 2-Speed Jack - Drop Leg w/ Spring Return, part # BD183816, it is essential that the existing jack have a cranking ratio (the number of handle turns that moves the jack one inch) that is the same as the 9-turns-per-inch high gear ratio of the Bulldog. If the two jacks do not have the same turns ratio, then the trailer will elevate unevenly, creating a safety hazard.

My contact at Bulldog tells me that if the OEM jacks on your 2012 PJ trailer indicate that they were made in Mexico (and you do note this), then there is a good chance they are Bulldog jacks, in which case you are clear to replace just one side with the 2-speed Bulldog jack, part # BD183816.

If the OEM jack indicates origin in China and/or says ProSeries on it, then it is not compatible with the Bulldog 2-speed jack.

Please note that this jack does not include a crank handle; you can select either a vertical or horizontal clevis handle. A horizontal clevis crank handle when folded up will pivot almost like a wing and lay flat on the side of the trailer when not in use, whereas a vertical clevis crank handle will pivot in like an elbow and fold in to the trailer and be secured in place. In order to pick the right one for your application you will need to look at your trailer to determine how the crank will be stored. If it looks like it swings in and is stored towards the jack, and the handle is perpendicular to the trailer you would want a vertical clevis crank handle, part # BD015181. If it looks like the crank handle gets stored flat on the side of your trailer parallel in relation to the direction of your trailer you will want a crank handle with a horizontal clevis, part # BD800090.
