High Capacity Trailer Hitch that Fits 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Hi! I have a 2004 Dodge 2500, 4wd, 4dr, short box, 6spd manual trans, cummins diesel with a factory tow hitch. Years have worn away the words on the tow hitch, so Im not sure what its tow weight capacity is. I have a trailer that is 14000 gross weight capable 4000 lb trailer with 10000 lb payload. Im assuming my factory tow hitch is insufficient for this. Which hitch/configuration would you recommend? Im assuming it would be an additional hitch that bolts underneath my existing hitch? For a higher weight capacity trailer hitch that fits your 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with the factory hitch you'd want the Draw Tite part # DT45509.

This has a towing capacity of up to 18,000 lbs so it would easily be strong enough for your trailer that weighs 14,000 lbs when loaded to it's max.

You will have to remove your factory hitch to install this as well.
