I took a look at your Owner's Manual and on page 256 they approve of the use of snow chains on the rear tires over compacted snow. You said your rear tire size is 295/35-21, so I am able to make some recommendations for your specific tire.
The Konig # TH2004705265 tire chains offer the best tire rim protection, they are self tensioning, and require only 12 mm of clearance from vehicle body parts and suspension/chassis parts. I feel that the chain pattern is more aggressive and will bite into the snow and ice better.
The Konig # TH01571265 tire chains do not offer rim protection. They are not self tensioning, and they require more clearance at 16 mm.
A different alternative is the Titian Chain # TCH72 “Snow Socks.” They install relatively easily and offer some tire rim protection, and require 15 mm clearance to all parts. I really feel like these are the light-duty choice. Our customer Carl V. said, “I only had to use these once last year and they worked great. Relatively easy to get on, even with the car stuck in the snow.”
Of these three I would pick the snow socks if your area has only moderate snow fall. If you wanted something more aggressive the # TH2004705265 tire chains offer the best of all features.
Meanwhile, if you are getting your car ready for hazardous roads you may want to consider the Orion # RN8907-01 Roadside Emergency Kit. Offering 60 pieces of safety equipment.
One of the hottest safety items selling is the Savior # SA54FR LED Road Flares – package of three. These can be placed on the ground, on your car, or any flat OR magnetic surface. They are compact and easy to store away, and work better than cones or triangles when you need to be seen on the side of the road.
