Flat Towing Equipment Recommendations for 2019 Chevy Equinox
Question:
I am looking to flat tow my 2019 Chevy Equinox with my 2006 Monaco Cayman 34PDQ. I am looking for advice on which products to purchase. I watched your video on the Curt towbar and associated equipment and liked what I saw but would prefer to have someone guide me through the process. Thank You

According to the owner's manual, FWD Equinox models with the 1.5 L gas, 2.0L gas, and 1.6L diesel engine and AWD 2.0L gas and 1.6L diesel engines are capable of being flat towed. All other models would need to be towed on a trailer.
To flat tow the vehicle, you'll need a tow bar, safety cables, base plates, a wiring harness so that the taillights on the Equinox work in tandem with those on the motorhome, a supplemental braking system and possibly a high/low adapter.
For a base plate, the Curt # C28FR would be a good choice. The drawbars are easily removable by pulling a spring loaded pin and twisting, and the connection to the tow bar is easy to use and very uncomplicated. For a tow bar, I'd recommend the Blue Ox Alpha 2, part # BX7380 which includes safety cables. For wiring, the kit needed will depend on if your Equinox is a Premier model or not. For the Premier with LED taillights, use # RM-152-98146-7, or for non-Premier models with incandescent taillights, use # RM26FR.
For a braking system, I really like a portable system like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR. By using a portable system, you'll avoid a time-consuming and likely expensive installation. If you should change vehicles in the future, the Patriot can easily be swapped into the new vehicle. Installation/set-up takes just a few moments. You'll also need a # RM-9332 12-volt outlet and a # RM-156-25 charge line kit to keep the battery topped off while towing.
If the vehicle is at factory ride height using the stock tire size, the installed base plate height will be right about 16 inches. If the height of the receiver on the motorhome is more than 3 inches higher or lower than 16 inches, you'll need to use a high/low adapter to bring it within that range. I'll link to our selection of high/low adapters.
I've also linked to some installation videos that you might find helpful.
