3-Bike Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan

Hi, I am just trying to figure out of any of the hitch mount bike carriers that fit the 2011 VW Tiguan can carry 3 bikes 2 adult, 1 child size? I noticed that the one Volkwagen sells only fits 2 bikes, and was looking at your site but I couldnt quite make out whether any of them fit more bikes.

If you have or will be installing the Class III trailer hitch with 2-inch receiver, # e98906, on your 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan, then the hitch mount bike rack world is your oyster. Class III trailer hitches with the 2-inch receiver will afford you many bike rack options from 2 to 5 bike carriers.

Since you are looking for a 3-bike carrier I recommend the Swagman Trailhead, # S63365. This rack fits 1-1/4 or 2 inch hitches and can tilt down. If you have a step-trough frame, alternative frame design, or a very small bike, you will want to use an adapter bar. I have linked instructions and a video for this rack for you.

If your Tiguan came with a factory Class I trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver then you will be limited to carrying a maximum of 2 bikes because a Class I hitch cannot withstand the stress of more bikes loaded that far away from the receiver.
