Recommended Trailer Axle for 6 Foot Wide Flatbed Trailer Build
Question:
Hey, I am sure you get a lot of questions So I am building a 6foot wide flat trailer. Then wheels and fenders outside of that. I am just going to be using standard 5 bolt trailer tires. 205 65 r15. I am trying to figure out how to order an axel. What length to I order for the above? Thanks

We only have a Timbren Axle-Less System for compatibility with your trailer and your 5 bolt wheels. I recommend the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System w Electric Brake Hubs - Straight Spindle - 3,500 lbs # A35RS545E if you will be pulling weights over 3,000 lbs to give you the trailer braking that will help ensure your trailer doesn't push the tow vehicle. If you want to use idler hubs without brakes, then you can use the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System w Hubs - Straight Spindle - 5 on 4-1/2 # A35RS545. These axles require a 2 inch square bar (not included) between the assemblies in the integrated holes. I've attached videos to assist.
The Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes - E-Z Lube - 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 86-1/2" - 6K # 8327826-EB has the correct width, but it is only compatible with 6 bolt wheels. It is rated for a higher capacity but it also requires hangers, springs, and u-bolts. The Axle-Less system has the suspension integrated.
