Front Mounted Trailer Hitch Receiver for 1994 Ford Ranger with Light Plow

Question:

Youve already stated in other answers that this hitch will fit the 94 with cross member, but is it a class 3inch hitch? I want to run a light plow rig, but most Ive found that fit my needs specify a class 3, 2inch receiver hitch. Whats the difference between a 2inch hitch and a class III 2inch hitch? Just down weight at the hitch point? 65017 front mount hitch on 94 Ranger with cross member.

The Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 65017 is a class III hitch that has a 2 inch receiver tube. The class III rating on the 2 inch hitch does have to do with capacity and tongue weight. There are some 2 inch receivers that are rated class II with a lower tongue weight capacity and there are quite a few more that are rated class IV or class V.

This class III receiver will work well for your light plow rig. The 300 lb vertical load limit is the maximum "tongue weight" you can carry.
