Yes the etrailer hitch part # e98865 that fits your 2017 Chevy Equinox would work really well to carry a cargo carrier as it has a tongue weight capacity at 350lbs. For a folding cargo carrier that would work great with this we have the etrailer # e98874 which measures 24 inch by 60 inch.
