After speaking with my contact at Hopkins, I can tell you the Hopkins Backup Sensor System License Bracket Mount # HM60100VA is a compatible fit on your car. You may have to drill a small hole behind the license plate to pass the power wire from the camera through the rear hatch door. Some cars may have a hole for this already but most do not.
Based on the photos I have seen of the rear license plate area and the fact it is tapered around the tag area, this item should fit on your 2012 Hyundai Sonata.
This product does require splicing into the vehicles wiring, so you will want to check with Hyundai to see if installing this item will affect your warranty.
