Can Air Bags be Used on a 2017 Ford F-250 With an 8 Inch Lift
Question:
I have a 2017 F250 superduty with an 8’’ lift on 37s. Im pulling a 12,000 lb toy hauler and when hooked up my rear end drops about 4-6’’. What is best to add so I can level out? Can I use air bags with a lift?

It is possible to use air bags on your 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty with an 8 inch lift, but since the tallest lift spacers available are 6 inches, we have been told by the manufacturer of the air bags, Firestone, that you'll need to have the proper length continuous metal spacer fabricated. If you do that you can add add air bags to your F-250, with the correct ones depending on if your truck is 2-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive:
- 2-Wheel Drive: Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2600
- 4-Wheel Drive: Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F35FV
There is another option which I recommend that doesn't require this type of custom fabrication, and that's the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit. This system installs on the leaf spring which is why it works with lifted trucks like yours, and will be a perfect antidote to the squat you are experiencing.
The reason the RAS is so good is because because it is an active system which continually reinforces your F-250's leaf spring suspension. The force normally put on the springs gets transferred to the RAS Enhancement Kit, allowing your leaf springs to work normally. This keeps your truck level and will improve its traction and handling because it allows your front wheels to stay completely on the ground instead of being slightly raised as you are towing. The correct RAS fit for your F-250 depends on if it has factory top overload springs or not.
- WITH Factory Top Overload Springs: RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-SLHD
- WITHOUT Factory Top Overload Springs: RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-SHD
