Longer Shank for Weight Distribution System for Better Tailgate Clearance

Question:

Hi I have the issue of needing to tow my 26foot trailer with my tailgate down due to UTV in my bed. I have a 2017 f150 and the trailer is a forest river vibe 25-7. I think it weighs around 6500lbs unloaded and has about a 800-900 lb tongue weight. Will one of the extended shank hitches work with this setup? If so which one would you recommend. Is there any super heavy duty ones available? Thank you.

I don't know what specific weight distribution system you have but our longer shanks like the Equal-i-zer part # EQ90-02-4600 which is 18 inches long and would give you additional clearance. This would also have the weight capacity you'd need as well.
