In order to determine what chains, if any, can be used on your 2005 Saturn Ion, you will want to consult the vehicle owners manual. There should be a section on chains, if they can be used, and if so if there are any restrictions.
We have not had a 2005 Saturn Ion in to be fitted for chains so it is a measurement I do not have. What you can do is cut the wheels all the way left, measure, all the way right, measure, and straight, measure. You will measure from the inside of the tire to the closest part of the car that could cause interference. Depending on the current level of inflation in the tires, how much wear there is, and the manufacturer and model tire, even tires of the same size can actually measure differently so measuring your specific set is going to be important.
The chains that require the least clearance are Class S chains. I have included a link to all of the chain options for size 195/60-15 tires. They are all Class S compatible. This means at most they will need 12mm of clearance all around the tires. K-Summit chains, # TH02230K22, are the best as far as clearance at the back side of the tire as they require zero milometers.
I have included some tire chains links for you to view.
