Recommendations for Converting a Trailer with a 6-way Round to a 4-way
Question:
I have ordered the 118410 electrical harness for my 2007 Hyundai Entourage. However the picture shows a connector that is much different then the current cylinder type adapter that my popup campers harness utilizes. My popup is a very basic model with only lights no brakes. Ive enclosed a picture of the current popup harness. Am I missing something? Will the current popup harness work with the 118410 vehicle harness as is, or, do I need to order another popup harness or is there an adapter? What should I do? Thanks in advance.

What I would do in your situation is cut off the square connector and install a 4-Pole Trailer End Connector # 18004 instead. This way the wiring harness # 118410 that you ordered will plug right in, and if you ever have to tow the trailer with a different vehicle it would work. You will need to wire the 4-way in by function to the 4 wires that got cut off. You can either use a power source to put voltage on the circuit so that you figure out what wire does what, or you can trace the wires back to see where they terminate.
Your other option is to get a 4-way to 7-way adapter like our # C57674. This would convert the 4-way of the # 18410 to a 7-way and would allow you to use your current setup. Except you would be using 2 adapters which can make things more complicated than they need to be, especially if you ever find yourself trying to troubleshoot a wiring problem.

Jameson C - Are you saying cut off the popup campers cylinder connector you are say Square connector which is confusing me and then rewire 18004 on the campers harness? Will this connect to the vehicle without modifying the 118410 connector? The connector end etrailer displays for 118410 doesnt look anything like the 18004 BUT looking carefully at the additional picture displaying all the components it appears like there is a connector that would work with 18004. Please confirm. Also - Dont you sell a complete Trailer harness that would work with my popup campers connector and 118410 etrailer harness? That would take all the guess work out of it and not require me to be rewiring. Thanks again for your help!
