Best Way to Carry a Bike Rack on 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited When Flat Towing
Question:
Is it possible to use a hitch riser in conjunction with a dual hitch receiver to tow a jeep wrangler behind a motorhome? We have a new jeep and will be towing it from the bumper which requires a 6 hitch riser. We would also like to still be able to mount our bike rack to the motorhome hitch as well. Is it possible to use the riser out of the motorhome then use a dual hitch receiver to tow the jeep and mount the bike rack?

I have a solution for you, but you cannot use a dual hitch adapter like the # RM-077-2 inside of a high/low adapter like the # RM-048-6. As long as your vehicle has a 2" hitch receiver, you can put a bike rack that is rated for use on the rear of a flat towed vehicle, like the Swagman XP - 4 Bike Rack for 2" Trailer Hitches # S64940. The Swagman XP has 12-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack, so it will easily fit on a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited as long as your tires are not oversized, off-road tires. This would be the best way to carry a bike rack while flat towing a vehicle, and is one frequently used by our customers.
If you don't already have a hitch on your 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, I recommend using the etrailer # e98856, which will give you the 2" receiver you need to carry a bike rack like the Swagman XP. This hitch has a durable powder coated finish that will help protect it from corrosion, and also has an extended receiver to help clearing the spare tire on your JLU.
I've linked a review video of this rack and installation video of the hitch for you to have a look at, as well.
