Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch Connection for Reese Elite Slider Hitch on 2019 Ford F-250 Short Bed

Question:

I was given a Reese re elite 18 sliding hitch that came out of a Dodge truck. It has the rails on the bottom for the puck system. My truck is a 2019 f250 super duty short box. It does not have the factory puck system. Can I take the pucks off of this hitch and buy an adapter kit so I can use this in my truck or will I have to install an aftermarket puck system in my truck? Thank you.

The Reese Elite 18K hitch # RP30144 you have is only compatible with elite puck systems. You can add the elite pucks to your 2019 F-250 using # RP87FR. There is not an adapter for that hitch to standard above bed base rails, so installing the puck system above is the only option for that hitch. That is an excellent system and my recommendation over adding base rails and using a different hitch.

You may also consider adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector for Aluminum Beds - 7' Long # C57008 to have an easy connection point in the bed of your truck.
