Thule Hanging Bike Rack Recommendation for Surley Pugsley Fat Bikes
Question:
Im looking to get a hitch mount class 2 rack for my two fat bikes ... Pugsleys ... that weigh around #40 each. Was thinking of getting racks that accomodate at least 3 bikes, if not 4, for the extra size. I like Thule - but would consider others. Do the racks have individual bike weight limitations - or is it the cummulative weight that matters? Thanks.

You should have no problem using a 2 bike rack for both of your Surley Pugsley fat bikes. For example, the Thule T2 Classic, # TH9045, can hold both of your bikes with ease, has a weight capacity of 60 lbs per bike and it will fit a Class II trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver.
If you have a 2 inch receiver, then you will want part # TH69TX. It also has a 60 lb per bike weight limit and a 160 lb overall limit when used as the 4 bike mode. Most bike racks have a per bike weight capacity. This racks appears to be perfect for you. You can set it up to be a 2-bike rack or a 4-bike rack as neede.
If you are interested in a great bike rack that will save you some money, I recommend looking at the Kuat Transfer V2 part # KU74FR with the Adapter part # APBK. This bike rack will fit Class I, II and III hitches, it has a per bike weight capacity of 40 lbs and I personally feel like the design of this bike rack makes loading and unloading your bikes much easier. The U shaped frame of the bike rack allows you to only lift one wheel off the ground at a time.
I've attached review videos of both bike racks for you to check out and compare.
