Installing 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2020 Subaru Outback for Wireless Brake Controller
Question:
I purchased a used Taxa Cricket travel trailer which has electric brakes and comes with a Tekonsha wqi Brake Controller 90250 with flat blade 7 connector. I ordered a Curt trailer hitch along with a Curt 4 pole wiring harness C56040. On the telephone advice of Justin at eTrailer I also ordered Hopkins 4-pole to 7-pole adapter #37185. Order number 110377710. From your videos I can easily install everything except the 7-pole adapter, not sure where to hook the black hot lead does it run to the battery, if so shouldnt it belonger and 8 or 10 gauge, do I need a fuse?, blue brake lead or purple aux? Where in the back of my Outback do I hook them up? Is there a video that explains any of this? Obliviously I have never done trailer wiring like this previously. Thanks in advance for any help.

You have just about everything you need. You'll need to extend the black wire on that # 37185 using a length of # 10-1-1 10 gauge wire and run it to the positive battery terminal via a 40 amp breaker like # 9510.
I'll link to a video that outlines what you'll need to do. The portion of the video that outlines running the power wire to the battery begins at about the 8:45 minute mark.
Other than grounding the white wire to the frame and extending the black wire to the battery, the blue and the purple wires aren't needed and can be bundled up out of the way.
