Replacement for Dexter Hub 008-249-07 and Replacement Electric Brakes

Question:

Hello, I am servicing my trusty old trailer. Open 18 car hauler. Do you think these brakes are worn out? How about the magnet? The bearings have a good amount of grease when I took them apart. The adjuster was loosed inside the drum when I took the rear apart. I would like to replace the whole assembly. So far I have only found part number 008-249-07 on the drum. Can you help me find what kit I will need? thanks

We do have the exact replacement you need for your Dexter 008-249-07 hub, with the complete kit, which includes the hub and drum, bearings, race, and grease seal being the following part:

- Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3,500-lb Axles # 84556UC3

Along with the hub, for grease I recommend the Prime Guard Wheel Bearing Hi-Temp Red Grease # L11380, and for a bearing packer I recommend the Bearing Packer # ALL647646.

As for the electric brakes, there does look to be some possible corrosion and wear, so to be on the safe side, I do recommend replacing them, and you can do so with either manually adjusting or self-adjusting brakes. The correct options are:

- Manual Adjusting: Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Left and Right Hand Assemblies # 23-26-27

- Self-Adjusting: Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit - Left and Right Hand Assemblies # 23-468-469

These do include the mounting hardware, so the only other part you may need (if you don't have one) if you choose the manual adjusting brakes is the Brake Adjustment Spoon # W80630.
