Trailer Brake Controller Lost Power On 2003 Ford Explorer

Hello team, Im using a 2003 Ford Explorer Xlt V6 4.0 to pull a 20 foot camping trailer with electric brakes. I have a Ress Tow Power 850711 with the Tekonsha 3035-p adapter. At first everything worked when I pluged in, but when I ran the adaptor wire to the driver side I have no power now is there a fuse in the vehicle that could have blown? Or what could have gone wrong? Is there a fuse that controls the brake controller that could have blown? Thank you for you help.

From the research I did I recommend checking the fuse panel inside of your engine bay on your 2003 Ford Explorer. Using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 check fuse number 13 which is a 40amp fuse and verify that there is power on both sides of the fuse.

If there is power to the fuse I would double check the connection between the factory harness and your trailer brake controller. Focus on the black power wire, and make sure that it is securely plugged in, that it isn't loose in the connector, and does not show signs of damage.

Next I would use a circuit tester to check the black power wire going into your trailer brake controller and see if it has power. If the black power wire has power but your trailer brake controller does not you will have an issue inside of the trailer brake controller and will need to replace it.
