Cargo Basket Option for Fixed Hitch Swivel Wheel Carrier

Question:

I have a flat fixed hitch swivel wheel carrier. the carrier is 66 inches square with 6 ring ties on the front and 6 ring ties on the back of the carrier. i would like to find a way to put a covered cargo carrier on top and secure this with the ring ties and a ratchet set i already have. Would consider a cargo bag but not sure i can secure it properly. Also, thought of a basket carrier with a cargo bag, but all of the basket carriers see to have hitches installed. i think i need a basket without a hitch, so i can secure the basket to the ring ties and then put a bag inside. Would also consider a covered roof top carrier but cant figure out how to secure it to the flat top either. Any suggestions would be appreciated. thank you

This is an interesting predicament you have, and the best thing I can come up with as a potential option, that would allow you to use a cargo bag and tie it down to your carrier with ratchets is a roof-mounted cargo basket, it just depends on how big you wanted one to be. Most are designed to attach to roof crossbars with clamps, but you would just not install the clamps.

For example, you could use the 44" Long x 39" Wide Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Mounted Cargo Basket # Y07070 with etrailer Cargo Bag # e98990.

Another possibility is the Surco Safari Rack 5.0 Rooftop Cargo Basket which is either 50" Long x 45" Wide # SPS4550-1101 or 60" Long x 50" Wide # SPS5060-1101.

For cargo bags you could use the etrailer Cargo Bag # e98990 for the smaller basket or for the larger one the etrailer Cargo Bag # 988501.

I'm not 100 percent certain this will work for your application specifically, but it would be the best option we would be able to offer and hopefully you can make it work.
