Comparison of Draw-Tite Hitch Receiver vs Curt Hitch Receiver on 2018 Lincoln MKX
Question:
You compare Draw tite hidden hitch with Curt visible hitch but not the Curt hidden hitch. Also do you have install video for Curt C78KR? TIA

Expert Reply:
Either the Draw-Tite Hitch Receiver # 75234 or the Curt Hitch Receiver # C78KR would be a great addition for you 2018 Lincoln MKX. I recommend the Curt Hitch Receiver # C78KR as it offers the same maximum Tongue Weight (TW) rating at 675lbs, and Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) rating of 4500lbs. In my experience the powder coat finish the Curt uses is more durable and less likely to chip or scratch, and the Curt Hitch Receiver # C78KR is also made in the USA. Make sure to review your owners manual to see the maximum Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) and Maximum Tongue Weight (TW) ratings, Use which ever rating is lower between the owners manual and hitch receiver. Both the Draw-Tite # 75234 and Curt # C78KR will require the removal of the heat shield on your MKX. I attached the install video for the Draw-Tite # 75234, but unfortunately we do not yet have an install video for the Curt # C78KR.
If you are planning on towing with your MKX I recommend adding Tekonsha wiring harness # 118682 that plugs into your vehicle without cutting or splicing of wires, Dielectric Grease # 11755 to keep the connection from corroding, and 2x2 Ball Mount and Hitch Ball like etrailer # 989900 that includes a 1 7/8inch ball, 2inch ball, a 2 3/4inch rise/4inch drop ball mount, and a 3/4inch/2inch drop ball mount. I attached a link to help you determine the correct rise/drop, and the correct hitch ball.
