Which Tire Chains for 2020 Toyota Highlander FWD.

Question:

I don’t see any reviews about the 2020 highlander specifically. Wanted to make sure that it will fit because at the dealership they told me that I had to only get cable style chains. Would this model work on the 2020 highlander. Also i have a FWD do i need just on the front wheels or on all wheels? Tire size: 235/65R-18

For your 235/65-R18 tires the best choice would be the Konig # TH04115255 Easy Fits. These are by far the easiest chains to install. When it is cold out you don't want to be fussing with difficult chains! These chains are self-tensioning so you won't need to make frequent adjustments, and their diamond pattern not only puts more chain on the road compared to traditional ladder-style chains, but they ride smoother as well. They also have excellent clearance in the wheel well!

A more economical choice would be the Konig # TH2004705255 tire chains that have many of the same values as the Easy Fits, minus the ease of installation.

If you really only want cable chains you should get the Glacier # PW1046 Cable Snow Tire Chains which would be fine for occasion use in less drastic conditions. Your dealership may have mentioned tire "cables" if you live in an area that does not experience too many snow storms of significant severity.

For front wheel drive vehicles you need only to install chains on the front tires.

The reason you have not found any information about tire chains for your Highlander is because tire chains are sold mainly by tire size. The only other consideration is clearance inside the wheel well. If your tires entirely fill up your wheel well you may need to only use cable chains that are very low profile. Also check that you have a few inches of clearance at the back side of the tire in respect the proximity of suspension, brakes , and other parts. I suspect you will not have any issues with your Highlander.

You may find it interesting to take a look at the guide I have provided a link to below. This article discusses the different types of chains compared to how often you use them and in what depth of snow and ice.

I have included product links to these chains and some video reviews as well.
