Question:

Can a Pullrite Superglide be used instead of Sidewinder/stationary hitch?

With the 5-1/2 foot bed the amount of travel is important as you won't have as much clearance. A traditional sliding hitch won't provide enough travel, and an autoslide unless it has a longer travel will also not allow enough travel. For instance the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Single Jaw - Above Bed - 21,000 lbs # DM8550035 is very similar to the PullRite Superglide and is rated for beds 6-1/2 foot long and travels 14 inches compared to the PullRite 18 inches. This is not enough travel for a 5-1/2 foot bed. You can however use the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Single Jaw - Above Bed - 13,000 lbs # DM8550040 which has a lesser capacity but the same autosliding function and travels 22-1/2 inches comparable with the PullRite 12K option that makes it compatible with the 5-1/2 foot bed. These are really the only options other than using a pin box like the Sidewinder to offset the pivot point for clearance when turning with such a short bed.
