DOT Date Code on a Hi-Run Trailer Tire
Question:
That person was correct, I too have Hi-Run Trailer Tires @ 205/75/15 and the all of the digits after the DOT on the sidewall are as follows DOT OJ 18 FB4 Nowhere else on this tire is a 4-Digit Date Code. Thus, what Mfg. Date does this above DOT info. correspond to ? As you know, these tire are made in China and unsure how this may affect date coding. Thank you for your help.

Expert Reply:
All tires approved by the DOT, including the Karrier # AM31985 you were looking at, will have a four-digit date code. Make sure you check both sides of the tire to find the date code. The numbers on your tire should read "DOT OJ 18 FB4 ####" where the pound sign represents the numerical date code.
