Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2007 Honda Fit Behind a Motor Home

Question:

Hi, Will I need to modify, cut , or grind anything on my cars frame to get this hitch installed? I watch a video online of a 2007 Honda Fit baseplate getting installed but it looked like your 521557 model. thanks for your time

To install Roadmaster base plates # 521558-1, trimming of spoiler, air dam, grille or plastic fascia may be required on some models of the 2007 Honda Fit. On the frame, at most there will be some drilling required. The 521557-1 kit that mentioned is designed to fit the Civic, not the Fit.

In addition to the base plates you will also need a tow bar. The most popular tow bar option for the EZ style base plates is the Falcon 2, # RM-520. You will also need safety cables like # RM-643. You will also need a lighting solution. If you will not be towing frequently then I recommend the magnetic kit # RM-2120. If you will be towing the Fit often then a permanent kit like # 154-792-118158 would be the way to go. I have linked instructions for you.

Most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Even Brake # RM-9400 which is a proportional system that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the RV is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for additional information on flat towing the Fit. I have included helpful links to our FAQ articles on flat towing for you.
