Can a Stacked Plate Transmission Cooler be Added to a 2001 Dodge Ram Diesel
Question:
I want to add a stacked cooler to my 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins diesel with auto matic transmission. What do you reccommend. I am told another supplier installs a stacked 12X12X1.5 in place of the old one.

Automatic transmission coolers are not vehicle specific so you can install any one that will fit in the available space in the engine compartment. Derale cooler, # D13402, measures 13 inches wide by 6-7/16 inches tall and 2 inches deep. Since transmission fluid cannot be overcooled, it is recommended to add the cooler in line with the factory cooler and not sue it as a replacement. The flow will go from the transmission, to the factory cooler, then to the new cooler, and then back to the transmission. I have included some links on transmission coolers for you to view.
