Air Dam Trimming Area to Install a Westin Grille Guard on a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500
Question:
I have a 2012 Ram 1500 with the guard attached to the bumper. How hard is it to remove it? does the bull bar come with a template for exact cutting?

It sounds like you are talking about the lower air dam on the 2012 Dodge Ram 1500. There should be 6 bolts that hold it on located on the underside of the truck. The Westin Grille Guard, # 32-1965, does not have a template from trimming the air dam. Basically what you will do is remove the air dam, install the grille guard, and then trim the air dam as needed to fit around the grille guard. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.
It is also recommended to use the license plate relocation bracket, # 32-0055, so the front plate remains visible.
In addition to the bolts I have also heard that on some models there are additional plastic fasteners that will have to be removed in order for the air dam to be removed. A trim panel tool like # PT73HJ would help if you cannot get them off using other tools.
