Brake Controller Recommendation for 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited With Factory Tow Package
Question:
What brake controller do you recommend for a 2012 jeep wrangler unlimited with factory tow package? This would be for towing a pop up camper max 3500lbs. single axle. the jeep currently has the 4 pin which was stock. So is there a needed wire harness to make the brake controller work? Thank you.

There are a pair of brake controller options I recommend checking out for your 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with the factory tow package. One is a premium option and the other is a more basic but still quality option.
The first option I recommend is the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180.
This is the more premium option, but for good reason, with it is the easiest brake controller on the market to use and install. The Echo is so simple is because it is controlled with an app on your smartphone, and will simply plug into the 7-way on the back of your Jeep with absolutely no additional wiring necessary. This means no unit in your Jeep's cab, saving you space.
If you wanted a less expensive controller for your Jeep, I recommend the Tekonsha BRAKE-EVN # TK63VR with Brake Control Harness # 20127.
The I-Command is a great value due to its combination of quality and cost-effectiveness. It is going to give you smooth braking, has simple controls, and has a bright display that is easy to read and understand. So if you simply wanted the best controller, I'd go with the Echo, but for the best budget-friendly option, I recommend the I-Command.
Since you only have a 4-way on your Jeep you will need to add a 7-way with the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7.
I have added a link to a help article and an install video on a '12 Wrangler Unlimited for you to check out.
