Wiring and Installation of Go Power PWN Solar Charge Controller # 32480503

Question:

Do you have a wiring diagram for this? Adding a solar panel and this controller to an RV with a dual battery and a master disconnect switch. Is this something you can provide or help with? Also will the solar panel controller play well with all the other charging equipment? For example, when the RV is plugged in to shore power or when it is on the truck and being charged via 7-pin connector. Or do you have to disconnect/turn off the sole charging if another charging source is active?

The wiring diagram for the Go Power PWM Solar Charge Controller # 34280503 can be found in the manufacturer's user manual and I attached a copy of it below.

To install the controller, first pick an appropriate location and mount the controller using the included hardware. This should be as close to the battery as possible, on a vertical surface, and indoors to protect the unit from weather damage.

Next, run wires from the positive and negative battery terminals to the controller according to the schematic. Connect the wiring to the controller first, and then to the battery. If you are adding a fuse on the positive battery wire, it should be no larger than 10 amps.

Then complete the solar panel installation according to the manufacturer's instructions. If you are using this controller as part of a Go Power solar panel kit, you can use the wires included in the kit to connect the panels to the controller. Otherwise, you can determine the appropriate wire size via the list below:

50 Watt Solar Module: #14 Wire Gauge
80 Watt Solar Module: #12 Wire Gauge
95 Watt Solar Module: #10 Wire Gauge
110 Watt Solar Module: #10 Wire Gauge
125 Watt Solar Module: #10 Wire Gauge
160 Watt Solar Module: #10 Wire Gauge
240 Watt Solar Module: #10 Wire Gauge

Torque all terminal screws to 16 inch pounds. Keep the solar array covered with a opaque material until all wiring is completed. You can refer to the Go Power User's manual for more detailed installation instructions.

The solar power controller will work when connected to shore power or when connected to your truck. The controller is protected against reverse current flows and measures the voltage charge on the batteries to determine if it needs to send charge to the batteries, so there is no need to disconnect them.
