Question:
Followed the instructions explicitly and reviewed videos. Also, tried other settings and positions-spent hours on it. As you tighten the bracket, it slips from its position and is not safe to use.

Your experience with the Sportrack # SR1010 is why I do not recommend this rack for vehicles. It is designed to fit quite a few different vehicles but what we have found is that it doesn't really fit any vehicle particularly well since it's a semi-custom fit.
Instead a custom fit rack like the Rhino Rack part # RR69QR is going to be what you will want which will fit extremely well. This rack was specifically fit on your vehicle so it's going to fit perfectly and be very stable and solid.
