Can Weight Distribution be Used with 2021 Mercedes GLE 450 4matic without Active Curve System

Question:

Thank you for all the valuable information in your QandA section! Mercedes Benz Customer Care confirmed in an email that subject vehicle CAN use a weight distribution hitch. Im almost ready to proceed with part number RP66082 WD Hitch, however one question remains unanswered. I have no plans to purchase the MB Active Curve System too expensive and unnecessary, but I am considering the MB Airmatic air suspension system, which automatically adjusts the ride and ground clearance as you drive. However, that tells me that setting up a Weight Distribution System may be tricky or not doable at all. Is weight carrying the only option with Airmatic, or will I be able to use the Reese weight distribution system? Should I avoid the air suspension option altogether and just purchase one with regular suspension? FYI, my horse trailer only weighs 4700 pounds with the horse and the tongue weight is approximately 400 pounds. The GLE 450 tow rating is 7700 lbs. For safety, I much prefer using a WD hitch when towing a live animal! Thank you.

Using weight distribution like the part # RP66082 with a vehicle that has auto-leveling suspension is doable. The trick is that you let the tongue weight of the trailer sit on the ball mount first which will engage the auto level suspension and then from there set up the weight distribution and you'll gain the benefits of both systems.
