Weight Distribution System with a 2007 Holiday Rambler Alumalite on a 2011 GMC Sierra
Question:
I just purchased this item for a 2011 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton pu to haul a 2007 Holiday Rambler Alumalite trailer that is 30 ft long. I purchased it for the new owners to put on their truck as I sold them the camper and now they are asking if it is big enough. I know when ing it my husband looked at it on the website and said it would work fine but because these folks are questioning it I wonder if I should have gotten a hitch for up to 10,000 lbs. Oh my goodness. can you please confirm that this hitch will work for this application.

The 2007 Holiday Rambler Alumalite has a gross vehicle weight rating of 7605 pounds and a gross tongue weight between 605 and 1140 pounds (depending on how it's loaded). The Curt TruTrack, part # C17499, has a maximum tongue weight of 800 pounds. As such, you may want to upgrade to a weight distribution system that has a higher tongue weight capacity.
We have one that is very comparable to the TruTrack. It's the Fastway e2, part # FA92-00-1200. They're at similar price points, and like the TruTrack, the e2 features trunnion bars, sway control brackets, and fits a 2-inch hitch. However, the e2 has a maximum tongue weight of 1200 pounds, putting a step above the TruTrack. I've linked to a video review of this system.
There is something to keep in mind, though. Neither of these systems come with a hitch ball, so that is an additional component you will need. Your Alumalite may call for a 2" ball like part # A-90 or a 2-5/16" ball like part # 63840. I've linked to a list of our hitch balls compatible with this system in case you don't have one.
