Is the Power to Brake Controller Supposed to Stay On When Vehicle Is Shut Off?

Question:

2017 Chevy silverado 1500 I purchased and installed part TK63VR and gm adapter that goes with it. My question is... Is the controller supposed to have constant power even when truck is off. I noticed that when truck is off 2 lights are always on the controller display.

After 15 or so minutes of inactivity, the controller goes into a 'sleep mode'. The controller doesn't turn completely off, but the power drain in the sleep mode is so miniscule that it would take months of inactivity to eventually drain the vehicle battery. The fact that the controller doesn't fully shut off is actually a safety feature, so folks don't forget to turn it back on. In other words, your Tekonsha # TK63VR BRAKE-EVN brake controller is operating properly.
