Recommended 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box Adapter for Short Bed Truck
Question:
have 8ft bed truck w/gooseneck hitch for towing fifth wheel. Buying shortbed 6.5 foot ram 2500 crewcab and want to continue using the gooseneck setup. Am not sure of the cab to ball dimension on the RAM. what are product options for modifying trailer hitch to allow safe, cab clearance with the shorter bed and still use the gooseneck ball? trailer is 13,000lb gross weight, 8 foot wide, 1997 thor industries travelezeinch 32. RBW 7028 pinbox really like to keep the gooseneck setup, the truck will have the factory tow package for trailering. Any help on this would be appreciated- thanks.

In order to tow a 5th wheel trailer with a short bed truck using the gooseneck hitch you'll need some sort of adapter in order to extend the connection point away from the cab which will allow for greater turning clearance. The best options we have for this are fifth wheel to gooseneck pin box adapters, the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter part # CAB-C5GX1216 for cushioned or the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter part # AM3139 for standard. I recommend the cushioned option as it will produce a better ride quality.
Please note, there are no offset hitch balls for the factory prep packages so this won't be an option.
