Does Battery Have to be Disconnected to Install Trailer Wiring on 2020 Honda Passport

Why do you need to disconnect the negative battery post if it is just plug in?

Expert Reply:
Unplugging the vehicle battery before installing the Curt wiring harness part # C56291 is a precaution. Anytime you make electrical connections on a vehicle there is a risk a short could be created. So while I could see how installing the part # C56291 wouldn't require the battery being disconnected for most people I have to recommend you stick with the manufacturer recommendation.
