Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Question:

We plan to flat tow a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited behind a diesel pusher rv 2001 Monaco Windsor. The RV has air brakes, so it was interesting to see the recommendation for the braking controller - SMI AirForceOne #SM99243. 1It wasnt clear if the controller is to be installed in the Jeep engine compartment or in the RV. 2 Although the Jeep is stock now, I may want to install a winch. Will the RM521448-5 base plates allow for that? 3 The Falcon All-terrain tow bar was recommended by someone else. It looks like you recommend the Nighthawk RM676. Reason? 4 I understood earlier that no brake light switch kit is needed for this vehicle. How can I determine whether or not this is the case?

The SMI Air Force One part # SM99243 is a great choice for a supplemental braking system for your 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited as it ties into the air brakes of your motorhome and applies the vehicle brakes in a proportionate amount. To see how this installs in a similar Wrangler I attached an install video for more info as well. This would not interfere with a winch install. Now if you wanted a braking system that's a simpler install we also have the Blue Ox Patriot part # BLU37TR which you set into the floorboards of the vehicle when towing. Brake light switch is not needed.

The Roadmaster base plate kit part # RM-521448-5 is a confirmed fit for your Wrangler as well and won't interfere with either system. The Nighthawk Tow Bar part # RM-676 will also work great with this base plate. You'd only need lighting/wiring at this point which the part # RM-154 would be a great option that activates the Jeep taillights and does not require drilling into the light housings.
