Can Curt A20 5th Wheel Head Unit Replace Curt Q20 Head Unit for Use With Sidewinder

Question:

I have a Curt Q20 hitch and my trailer has the Reese revolution hitch pin which can swivel. I can’t use the swivel with the Q20 but i hear it works with the A20. Can i swap my Q20 plate with one from an A20 so i can use the swivel feature?

I reached out to Curt about this, and what they told me was that the Q20 and A20 use different legs with different mounting, so the Head Unit for Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16540 will not fit on the Q20 legs.

Neither one will work with a Reese sidewinder, so you'll instead want to go with something like the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Slide Bar Jaw - 16,000 lbs # C16115 which fits standard 5th wheel rails like you should have. To use this with a rotating pin box, you'll also need Sidewinder Wedge # C16991.
