Weight Distribution Hitch Recommendation for 2021 Shasta 25RS

Question:

I have a 2021 Shasta 25RS with a GVWR of 6750 lbs and hitch weight of 690 lbs. Add the weight of 2 full propane tanks and battery plus any cargo behind rear axle it would be over 800 lbs. Would a WDH spring bar range of 800-1200 lbs be too much? Looking at a Husky Centerline TS WDH system.

The Husky Center Line Weight Distribution System # HT32218 is rated for tongue weights from 800 lbs to 1,200 lbs. As such, this would be appropriate for your 800 lb tongue weight. The only issue here would be if you ever plan on towing your camper without any cargo behind your vehicle's rear axle, this WD system could be over rated and result in rough handling and ride quality.

Overall, I would recommend the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System # RP66560 over the Husky system as it is rated for tongue weights from 600 lbs to 1,200 lbs. This would reduce the likelihood of any rough handling issues while towing your camper. Note that this does not come with a hitch ball. I recommend the Draw-Tite # 19286 for a 2-5/16" hitch ball or the Curt # C69FR for 2" hitch ball.
