Installing Trailer Wiring Harness 119250KIT on a 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan

Question:

I have running lights with a White w/black stripe to Brown. Black w/white stripe to Yellow for Left Turn. There is a Brown wire in this pkg but no voltage. This is on the left side. Black w/green stripe on right side for Right turn. How do I get the Stop light to work.

According to Tekonsha, the 2012 Volkswagen Tiguan needs to be wired using the BM-1 code in the instructions (linked for reference).

This would mean that the brake lights, turn signals, and tail lights are combined onto 1 circuit for each side of the vehicle. So you will attach the yellow wire for the converter to the left side wire on the vehicle that carries those 3 functions, the green wire attaches to the combine 3 function wire on the right side. The red and brown wires will ground with the white wire.

You will need to use the included circuit tester to test the wires on the vehicle to determine which one has all 3 circuits and to be sure BM-4 is correct or if you need to follow installation for one of the other BM codes.

I just installed mine in the same way with brown and red grounded. When I hook up the voltmeter one lead to the brown wire and one to vehicle ground I get no reading from the brown wire from the trailer harness. Do you think the brakes will work once connected to an actual trailer? Right and left turn signals work without issue.

If you mean the brown wire on the 4-pole, that circuit is for running lights so you would want to have the headlights on when you test that wire. The green and yellow wires on the 4-pole will become hot with the brake pedal pushed or the respective turn signals.
