Does Rubber Mat in Truck Bed Need to be Trimmed to Install Fifth Wheel Rail Kit

can i simply use spacers to install fifth wheel rails over a rubber bed mat?

Fifth wheel rails need to make a direct connection to the bed of the truck they install on. If you plan to use a rubber bed mat you'd have to make a cut out for the rail system you install. The rail kit needed for the B and W Companion hitch part # BWRVK3500 you mentioned in the bed of your 2004 Ford Super Duty long bed would be the # BWGNRK1108 which would require a smaller cut out for the rail kit since it uses a gooseneck ball attachment but would require cut outs made for the hitch to contact the truck bed.
