Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender On 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Question:

I tried a Yakima Swing away and the mechanism wouldnt clear the bottom of the rear spare tire stock all terrain 31inch tire. I already had to pay the $50 to return that to you. So, Im trying to be sure on what I reorder. I am looking at the Kuat Pivot 2 now. Some guy at Thule first told me their swing away would work and then said it wouldnt! Kuat said they thought theres should work but check the schematic fit guide. The Kuat fitment guide shows 5 3/8inch from pin hole to top of mechanism. My measurement is maybe 3 1/4inch from the TOP of the hitch receiver to bottom of spare. So, its then a question of whether the whole apparatus is far enough back to be all clear of the spare. I measure 6 1/2inch from end of hitch receiver to outside of spare. The Kuat schematic shows 5 3/8inch from pin hole to the mechanism. So, I dont think it will extend far enough rear to clear. Can someone there tell me if this Kuat Pivot2 will work on my stock 2020 Jeep? If you know people of used this setup, it would be a huge relief before ordering in the dark once again. Thanks in advance.

The Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks - 2" Hitches - Passenger's Side # PVP20B is a more common fit because it swings to the passenger side instead of the driver's side like # PVD20B you asked from.

To get the clearances you are seeking, the places you are measuring from are part of the issue. You will want to measure from the hitch pin hole to the outside of the spare tire and from the inside top of the receiver tube to the bottom of the spare tire.

The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole of your receiver to the hitch pin hole of your bike rack will be 12-3/16 inches, so it will clear your spare. The shank has a 3 inch rise measuring from that inside top of the receiver to the top of the Pivot 2, so again you will have clearance under your spare tire based on the dimension you gave.
