Will a 2007 Dodge Ram and 2005 Ford Trailer Connectors Match to Tow the Same Trailer

If I wire my trailer to match my 07 Dodge will the same trailer work on my 05 Ford

Wiring the trailer to match the pin out on the 2007 Dodge Ram should allow it to work with the 2005 Ford as well. The reason is that vehicles generally have the same pin out on the trailer connector, the two most common being a 4-Way flat and 7-Way blade style.

To make sure everything matches up and just to be on the safe side you can use a circuit tester like # 3808 to test the functions on the vehicle side connectors. On the trailer side you can either trace each wire back to determine its function or you can attach each of the wires to an external 12 volt power source, like a battery, to determine the functions.
