Can The Landing Gear Gear Box And Motor Be Replaced With Weight On The Trailer

Question:

Can the LG motor and/or the LG gearbox be replaced while the landing gears are down and supporting the full weight of the front end? Or does the front end need to be supported another way like being hitched during the install? I realize that the legs have a drive shaft... and I assume that they will continue to support the front end... I just want to know for sure how the front end needs to be supported during this install. Thank you.

Replacing the landing gear motor and gear box with the Replacement Motor for Stromberg Carlson Electric Landing Gear - 5,500 lbs Item # LG-142178 doesn't require weight to be taken off the front of the camper however, I recommend supporting the front of the trailer to be safe. It has been done with just the legs supporting the camper but again you are taking off the motor and gearbox.
