Recommended Roof Rack and Carriers to Haul 4 Bikes on my 2018 VW Golf SportWagens Roof

Question:

My goal is too secure 4 bikes onto the roof of my 2018 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen. Two of the bikes are aluminum mountain bikes with 26in wheels. The third bike is a steel touring bike with 700c 27in wheels. The fourth bike is a 24in kids bike. I estimate the bikes weigh roughly 30lbs on average. I intend to use the Malone TC ST Roof Bike Rack Item# MPG2130. Is it possible to fit this many bikes? Is this safe? If it is physically possible and safe, then which Malone crossbar is best for this application MPG215, MPG216, or MPG217? The first two options are confirmed to fit with my VW. I am thinking that the extra length in the 60in bar MPG217 would make loading and unloading bikes a bit easier. Is this assumption correct? I appreciate your recommedation.

The Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack part # MPG215 or part # MPG216 are both a confirmed fit for your 2018 Volkwagen Golf Sportwagen. It will allow you to attach many typed of accessories to your roof line. Of the two the larger option is my pick because of the additional room it offers. MPG217 is not a confirmed fit.

For getting four of the Malone Pilot TC ST Roof Mounted Bike Carrier part # MPG2103 on your roof line it will work. You will have to alternate front and back meaning one points the front one points to the rear next to the front and last to the rear. This is very common when adding several bikes to the roof of a more compact vehicle.
