Troubleshooting Curt C56274 Powered Trailer Taillight Converter Installed on 2020 Jeep Renegade

Question:

Hello, i purchased the harness and followed directions completely. All connection were properly done. The left drivers side turn and brake do not work. What could be the problem? ...the trailer light bulbs are new. Thank you in this matter.

You'll first want to determine if the problem lies on the vehicle side of the equation or the trailer side.

You can easily determine this by using a circuit tester like # PTW2993. Activate the left turn signal on the vehicle and use the tester on the trailer connector pin fed by the yellow wire. If you don't get signal on that pin, check the connection where the taillight converter plugs in line with the driver's side taillight harness. Make sure those connections are plugged in all the way until the connectors click into place. Use the circuit tester on the yellow wire entering the converter box. If you have signal entering but not leaving the box, the converter harness is bad and would need to be replaced.

If you do get a signal on the trailer connector pin fed by the yellow wire, then the problem lies in the trailer wiring itself. Trace the left turn/brake circuit (yellow wire) from the trailer connector back to the lamp, looking for loose connections or broken or pinched wires. Pay special attention to the condition of the wire right as it leaves the trailer plug, as this is a common failure point from folks pulling on the wire itself to unplug the trailer, instead of pulling on the plug. Also, check the bulb socket on the driver's side. If it's excessively corroded, you'll want to try removing the corrosion with some sandpaper or replacing the lamp itself if the corrosion is really severe..

I'll also link you to our trailer wiring and troubleshooting articles, which I hope you'll find helpful.
